This chill sports bar around the corner from the new U.S. embassy has a large projector screen for cheering fans, as well as a wide collection of bar games. But it's true virtues are its downstairs balcony and rooftop terrace, which are ideal for open-air imbibing.

It's a quite new bar located in Super Bar Street. The name comes from the shape of building, a cylinder shape bar..
Simple style wooden decoration and friendly staffs create a relaxing, cozy and free atmosphere. There're a bunch of board games come from all over the world, like Monopoly, Jenga, Backgammon, Dominoes,Scrabble... and the owner also knows a lot of interesting drinking games as well, sometimes she will teach and play with the customers, can tell she's really into it. Huge projection screen on the wall for people watching Euro 2008 is the best thing with buy 2 get 1 free Carlsberg draft beer or 15rmb Harbin and Tsingtao beer. If you want, 45rmb for each Guinness also not a bad choice. Darts and pool table are on the second floor, the owner is pretty proud of the price she paid for the kind of great pool table. Yeah, that exactly is a nice price. Lakeside balcony and rooftop terrace are the most comfortable places here for enjoying the Jing's cool night. Good weather, good drink and good sandwich, I like the Tuna one by the way. There's another cool thing here is the coffee. Some of my friends always complain that they can't find real good coffee in Beijing, but once they came to Cylinder, no one complaint at all. The guy who makes coffee here is pretty young but that doesn't really matter cuz he has professional skills and the coffee all made with illy beans. Recommend Long Black cuz it's bottomless cup, that's awesome ^^ Now, they're serving all drinks except Carlsberg draft beer with 20% off. Stop by to check it out~~

I checked out Cylinder's last night! It was pretty cool. The outside of the bar actually looks like a Cylinder! The environment is comfortable, laid back and relax. The food is good and the coffee is great. It actually tastes like real coffee, so difficult to find good coffee in Beijing. The music is not too loud and good variety and an area for a band. My friends and I were able to watch the Holland vs. Russia soccer game on their big screen. That was cool, reminds me of bar's back home. The staff was friendly and accomodating! The waitress was cute and could speak good english, it helped make things more easy-going and comfortable. They have a free pool table on the secong floor and lots of english games. They have a Terrance on the third floor, and I heard that they are going to have barbeque's and a beer garden up there. My friends and I had a great time, I definately recommend Cylinder's to anybody, Chinese or Westerner!

Rummikub -- The most popular family game in the world
Rummikub® is a group of tile rummy games, there are two, three or four players, and the game is played clockwise. The tiles are shuffled face down on the table and each player takes 14 tiles. The first meld made by each player must consist of one or more combinations formed entirely from that player's hand, where the total numbers of the tiles used add up to 30 or more.
The object is to be the first to get rid of all of your tiles by melding them in combinations on the table. The possible combinations are:
GROUPS: consisting of three or four tiles of the same number and different colours
RUNS: consisting of three or more consecutive numbers of the same colour. No tile may belong to more than one combination at the same time.
A turn consists of either drawing one tile from the pool or melding one or more tiles from hand by placing them face up on the table.
Jokers can be used as substitutes for any numbered tile to make up a valid combination.
A combination which contains a joker can have further tiles added to it, but nothing can be taken from it, nor can it be rearranged in any way while there is a joker in it. However, a player who has in hand the tile which is represented by a joker on the table, the player can substitute the real tile for the joker and then re-use the joker in some combination on the table. A joker released in this way cannot be taken into the player's hand for later use.
Because of the complexity of the possible rearrangements, it is usual to set a time limit for a turn, for example two minutes. When you have finished your turn, you say "pass", and the next person can play.
The first player who manages to play all their tiles wins. The other players add up the numbers on the tiles remaining in their racks, counting jokers as 30.

Drinking Outside the Box
Cylinder Bar gets its name from its beer barrel shape. This traditional Cheers-style wooden bar and décor is like a Texas-style steak: well but never overdone. A classic U.S. sports bar positioned less than 500 yards from the spanking new U.S embassy, Cylinder enjoys an ideal location. They have a large projector for sports and their collection of bar games is admirable. Drunken Twister is an option if the pool table or dart board is occupied, but watch the bar maid on the Rummikub—she’s deadly. Cylinder excels as a community sports joint in the currently neglected Super Bar Street area. Its basic requirements have all been met: from a friendly English speaking staff to clean, Western-style toilets. But, Cylinder’s real virtue is its prices: We were particularly pleased by our pints of Carlsberg (YY25) and Guinness (YY45), and Cylinder serves a range of mixed drinks that are easy on the wallet as well. Ideal for open-air imbibing, Cylinder has two outdoor drinking areas, a rooftop terrace and a downstairs balcony. Both have relaxing views of the lake. When there isn’t a big game projected for cheering fans, Cylinder is as chill sports bars come
