After a summer hiatus, Beijing Playhouse Play Reading Club is off and running again on August 11. Beijing Playhouse Play Reading Club (formerly called Actors Reading) will continue on the second Monday of every month at 7:30 pm. The new location is Xinjiang Music Bar at the Drum and Bell Tower. 10 RMB fee cover club expenses.
Beijing Playhouse Play Reading Club is like a book reading club--except we read plays. It's a lot of fun and good way to learn about Broadway theatre and make new friends in Beijing. All plays read are in English, but being a native English speaker is not required.
On August 11, the play we will read will be Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. A Christmas Carol is Beijing Playhouse's next main stage Broadway production and the director of the show will be at the August Play Reading Club to share is vision for the production. It's also a great way to learn about the show in advance of September 21 & 22 auditions.
At the September meeting of Beijing Playhouse Play Reading Club (on September 8), the group will read Arsenic and Old Lace. Members decide plays to read for future meetings.
