Yimuyuan Transport Hub: Reality in September 2009

The first question most of you (if not all of you) will have is probably along the lines of: "Where the hell is this Yimuyuan thingy?". Let's get that out of the way first -- Yimuyuan (一亩园) is right next to Yuanmingyuan -- and that's also where Line 4 calls.

Line 4 will actually have to cheat a little to get the transport hub -- two 70 meter passageways are part of the game since the Subway stop is actually not part of the transit hub. But hey, that's no big problem as there'll be escalators to help with the ride.

So when Line 4 opens September 28, 2009, you can easily get a bus at Yimuyuan / Yuanmingyuan -- and head out on the ground. By all means, the Subway scenery is nice, but there's always the bus for 24/7 views -- above-ground, all the time.

June 25 Update: Turns out Yimuyuan's closer to Xiyuan than Yuanmingyuan on Line 4. Sorry folks...

A rare case of malware has taken the Beijingology.com page hostage, and the linked Twitter account @Beijingology seems to be hanging by its last legs as it suspends itself into thin air. Oh well, there's still hope: follow David on Twitter to find out more about the Jing -- especially if it's got something to do with the Beijing Subway!

BTW, sorry for the less-than-optimal impression of a Line 4-specific screen grab. There's also this Beijingdaxue Dongmen thing -- in reality that's supposed to be called the East Gate of Peking University station. (Long name, I know!)
